Kenzie Eck
Originally from Eastern North Carolina, Kenzie Eck is an HR Specialist with Carolina HR, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from East Carolina University and a Master of Science degree in Human Resources from Western Carolina University. With eight years of experience in Payroll, Benefits, Human Resources, and HRIS, she has worked with businesses small and large to solve everyday problems and help them work more efficiently in Hospitality, Healthcare, Food Service, and Retail. When she’s not working, she loves baking and exploring the mountains she now calls home.

Jennifer Kinney
Jennifer Kinney is a Senior Human Resource Specialist. She joined Carolina HR in 2018. Before joining Carolina HR, Jennifer was a Payroll and Benefits Administrator for sixteen years at a financial institution. Jennifer has over eighteen years of payroll and benefits experience. She has her associates in accounting degree from AB-Tech and is currently finishing her bachelor’s degree in business administration and law through Western Carolina University. She also has a certificate in human resources from AB-Tech and is a North Carolina notary. In her spare time, she can be found hiking in our beautiful western North Carolina mountains and spending time with her family and her cats and dogs.

Kay Puleio has been a Senior HR Specialist with Carolina HR for over nine years. Her career in administrative services spans over twenty years and includes office management, bookkeeping, client implementation, payroll, benefit administration and HR support. Kay takes pride in providing excellent service and always takes time to understand her clients’ needs so she can provide the best support possible. Kay feels blessed to live in the mountains where she spends as much time as possible outdoors whether it’s hitting a trail in search of a waterfall or hitting a downtown street to explore unique shops. She has 3 wonderful children, two of which still live at home. She and her family love spending quality together cooking family meals, play games, and watching movies.

Margaret Harvey was born in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, she relocated to the mountains around Hendersonville and Asheville, North Carolina in 1990. Soon after she began working for a local medical laboratory and found her fit in the Human Resources department. After fifteen years in her HR position she decided to move to a new firm – Carolina HR. She has been with us since the beginning, first as the Director of Administrative Services and currently as the Director of Finance. She has been married to her husband Keith for forty-one years and counting. They have one daughter who resides in Raleigh.

Michelle Burnett is the Director of Human Resources at Carolina HR. She started her career in Human Resources twelve years ago and has worked for some large local companies including a couple of non-profit organizations. She joined Carolina HR in October of 2017 as an HR Specialist and became the Director of Administrative Services in March of 2019 and most recently moved into her position as Director of Human Resources. Michelle loves the challenges her new role brings as well as being able to work with each one of our clients. When she is not working, she is enjoying life as a wife and mother of three.

And last there is me, Steve Murphy. I’ve spent the last thirty-some years working in HR management. My experience is extremely varied and includes managing HR for multiple companies with tens of thousands of employees located throughout North America all the way to managing HR for a single company with a couple hundred employees located in one building. In early 2000 I relocated to the beautiful mountains here in Asheville, NC and had the opportunity to start my own company, Carolina HR. Since then, I have been very fortunate to work with staff and clients who value Human Resources. Most importantly, I am blessed to have been married to a wonderful person, Amy, since 1989. Together, we have raised two beautiful and strong daughters, Rebecca and Julia, and are excited about the journey the girls are now on to build their own lives.
